Welcome back!

What a wonderful start we have had in Year 1! The children have all settled in really well and are enjoying all of the exciting things going on in the classrooms.

We have started off our term with the story of Biscuit Bear by Minnie Grey- an exciting story about the adventures of a lonely biscuit. The children have tasted biscuits for themselves and created pictograms of their favourite and explored different decoration choices before following a recipe to bake and decorate their very own biscuit bears.

We followed this up with some drama work where the children became the biscuits from the story and acted out their different talents.

We have been exploring place value during our maths sessions, counting and recognising numbers as well as learning how to represent numbers in different ways.

We also begun our topic themed learning around castles ahead of our visit to Alnwick Castle next Thursday. Please remember to complete the annual blanket consent form if not already done so and to send your child to school wearing their school jumper or cardigan, sensible shoes and a waterproof coat.

We would also like to remind you about the KS1 parents meeting taking place in the school hall at 9am on Wednesday morning. We hope to see as many of you there as possible.DSCF3842
