Wow! What a busy 2 weeks.

Welcome back to all of our children and families. We have hit the ground running this year and have got off to a very positive and yet busy start.

You may have noticed that the children are coming home with an increased amount of homework, and we are pleased to see that the majority are completing and handing it in on time. The focus for homework will be grammar, punctuation and spelling, as well as reading at least 4 times per week. Sentences are not required for the spelling homework this year but children must learn the spelling rule and will have 10 spellings to learn. We will be sending home weekly maths homework as well as times tables that they will need to learn each week.

Well done everyone for remembering to come to school in PE kit on a Wednesday, this should be a black or grey tracksuit in colder weather, or shorts when warm, and a red t-shirt.

Handwriting is also a huge focus for Newsham this year and we will be encouraging children to write with a fluent, joined style, taking care with presentation in all subjects.

We look forward to another fun and exciting year with the children and are happy to be working in collaboration with you again.
