I hope everyone is enjoying the Easter break from school and is having a great time despite the weather!
I wanted to let you all know about an exciting event in the life of our lovely school……………………
Mr Gregory teaches in Y4 and is a really enthusiastic and dedicated ambassador for our school, Blyth and Northumberland. As Mr Gregory was born in Blyth and still lives here, he has been the perfect member of staff to lead on our developing involvement with the Port of Blyth. He has also led our recycling initiative and as a result, we have won awards with Love Northumberland whilst enriching the curriculum for our children at the same time.
As a result of all his community efforts, Mr Gregory has been chosen to represent Northumberland at the Royal Wedding on May 19th. He and his wife celebrate their first wedding anniversary that weekend and will now be able to combine that celebration with a trip to Windsor Castle!
We haven’t had the chance to tell the children about this invitation yet as it’s all happened during the Easter holidays and the last couple of days have been dominated with press interviews etc!
Mr Gregory was featured on BBC news at lunchtime and as far as I understand, will be on the BBC news at 6pm as well. He’s just finished an interview at the ITV studio in Newcastle and at this rate, will be a celebrity by the end of the week!
Whilst the invitation is a fantastic recognition of everything Mr Gregory does for our school and the community, he is really keen to take the opportunity to raise the profile of Newsham and to let viewers know what a special school we have. He and I both also want everyone to understand how fantastic our children and families are and to use this opportunity to fly the flag for Blyth!
I’ll keep you up to speed with news around this event as things develop between now and May 19th. That said, I though you might like to catch the news coverage this evening if you’re near a television.
Well done Mr Gregory, you are a perfect example for Newsham!
Enjoy the rest of the break everyone and please send my love to the children.
