Newsham Primary School have won the Blyth and Bedlington School Sport Programme U11 girls’ netball tournament for the second year running. The competition took place at Blyth Sport Centre, with 10 teams and almost 100 girls participating. Due to the large number of teams, they were divided in to 2 sections, with all teams in each section playing each other. The winners and runners up from each section played each other in semi- finals with the winners then playing in the final. All games were officiated by students from Bedlington High who took on the roles of umpires and scorers following their successful attendance at the Into Netball Umpiring course run by England Netball.
Newsham played Horton Grange in one semi- final, with St.Bedes and Meadowdale Academy playing in the other. Both were competitive matches which saw Newsham and Meadowdale come out on top. The final was played in a good spirit with both teams playing well, but Newsham came out on top and won 3 goals to 1. Well done to Newsham and the other semi-finalists, but also to the other competitors from Croftway, Morpeth Road, Station, Stead Lane, Malvins Close and New Delaval.
